Neue Seite

Guide - the first trips to the dungeons
After you did the Quests in New Haven, where you start, you are being invited to a trip to Despise. In the center of New Haven a NPC will teleport you.

Preparations
- your equipment should be repaired.

- enough bandages in your inventory (>100, depending on how long you plan to be there)

- you need light (torch, lantern, night sight potions) or items with the Night Vision property.

- optional: heal/cure potions

- plan ahead for emergencies, so you can teleport back out (Recall, Horn of Retreat)

You need at least one (better: two) ways to heal yourself. (bandages, spells, potions).

By now you should have also gotten into the topic Macros. You should really have a Macro to use bandages,
to heal and to cure poisons and bind them to a Hotkey. Maybe even one for potions.
At first you will take a lot of damage and you will need to be able to react quickly, looking for stuff in
your inventory is likely to kill you. You can even configure your Razor/UOSteam to automatically free your
hands for potions. For that purpose, check out Razor:en

Your primary offensive skills should be advanced (>70 at first, later on >90), if you won't hit your enemies you
will eventually run low on hp.

Lastly you should think about which items you want to insure.
After all you'll have to find your corpse again, if you die in the Dungeon.

Dying
The best way to get the stuff from your corpse is to visit a Healstone in Playercities, which can teleport
only the latest corpse to you. The Companion:en system can also help you out with that.

It is very likely that the path to your corpse is already populated by monsters again and without equipment you
won't be able to do much about that. On the other hand, the insurance costs per item are at 600 Gold. So you don't
want to insure Newbie items.

(Tip: Usually there are Healers in front of every Dungeon, they can resurrect you.)

Monsters
First off you should only attack monsters that only do physical damage, for which Despise is a great choice except
the small corner with the Acid-Elementals. Avoid monsters that use magic or poison, they are deadly for new players.
Especially due to the poison, you cannot heal yourself while being poisoned.
Depending on the grade of poison, curing it will need a certain level of skill (Healing, Magery, Chivalry, Veterinary).
Only when your skills are high enough you should start attacking those monsters.

Next off you will have to take a look at the resistances on your gear.
50% physical resistance should be the bare minimum. Especially when your possibilities to heal are very limited, you should
try to get armor that will protect you.
Eventually you will have to get your physical resistance to 70. The easiest way to do that is to visit the armor trader on top of the Tailor Shop
in New Haven. He will provide you with a relatively cheap, somewhat decent beginner armor.

Despise
http://uo.stratics.com/database/view.php?db_content=atlas&id=1217

After the NPC in New Haven teleported you to Despise, you end up in a little Chamber with
2 stairs in the West (left side). East of you is the exit of the dungeon.

The stair leading upstairs leads to Level 1 only containing Lizardmen, the same you can
often find in forests. You should head there first. These enemies do about 8-12 damage per
hit (if you don't have armor).
If they don't put up a challenge to you anymore you can head down (Level 3 - 2 being the chamber).
Here you will find Earth-Elementals and Ettins (about 15-35 damage per hit, again without armor).

In the far North-West of Level 3 you can find another staircase, leading further down.
There, in Level 4, you can find Trolls, Ogres and Ogre Lords. Ogre Lords are the hardest hitters,
doing 84 - 111 damage (without armor). 70% physical resistance is a must have for close combat here.
You will also need high weapon skill if you even want to hit them (>95).
Even with 70 physical resistance you will get about 30 damage, but in return these monsters also
sometimes drop magical items.

Orc Caves
http://uo.stratics.com/content/atlas/orccave.php

Before you go to Despise Level 4 a visit in the Orc-Caves is probably recommendable.
The enemies there are not hard either, but there are many. Some also poison you.
The Orc-Caves are located North-East of Britain, behind a mountain ridge.

Deceit
http://uo.stratics.com/database/view.php?db_content=atlas&id=1201

Deceit is located on a snowy Island and only accessible in 3 ways: Marked Runes, Ship or Shrine.
The fastest way will be to visit the Chamber of Virtues in East Britain (there's a red gate to a
PvP Arena in front of it) and walk on the Honesty symbol, the Hand. It will teleport you to the Ice Island.
You can get back by walking on the same symbol again.

In the center of the island are mountains, but on the west side there's a path leading inside them, where
the Dungeon is located. On the Path you can find a healer, if you need him.
The Dungeon mostly contains Undeads which do a lot of Cold-Damage - so you should work on your Resistances.

In Level 1 you will encounter Skeletons, Zombies, Spectres, Shades, Mummies, etc.
Mummies are probably the most heavy hitters in there dealing 30-50 damage per hit (without resistances).
Inbetween those monsters you will also find Water Elementals, which can poison you.

In Level 2 there are a few stronger monsters: Bone Knights, Bone Magi and also Skeletal Knights / Mages.

From Level 3 on there are Lichs, which can be pretty hard already since they are casters. But there are
also Young Werewolves, which you should probably avoid for now.

Level 4 and 5 you should certainly avoid, they contain Skeletal Drakes, Lich Lords and actual Werewolves,
which are even a challenge for very experienced players.

Shame
http://uo.stratics.com/database/view.php?db_content=atlas&id=1210

Shame is located South-West of Skara Brae on the back side of a mountain ridge, it contains
a lot of Elementals. In Level 1 you will encounter Earth-Elementals, like in Despise 2, but
also a lot of scorpions that will sting you with a mid-tier poison.

Level 2 contains a bunch of Elementals, which will attack you with magic, so you should get
proper equip for that first.

Solen Hive
http://uo.stratics.com/database/view.php?db_content=atlas&id=1270

The Solen Hive is an underground labyrinth with multiple entrances and is populated by insects:
Solen Workers, Solen Warriors, Solen Queen.

The Solen Workers are pretty easy to kill. Solen Warriors are not too hard either, but towards the
end of the battle you will have to watch out: Their venom sacks will burst and will cause 30 damage per
sack (sometimes 3 at once, meaning 90 damage). The poison will be on the ground, you have to avoid it at all cost.
The Solen Queen will react similarly, only that she will call Solen Workers for help.

The further you enter the dungeon, the more insects you will encounter. Ant Lions and Beetles are mid-tier enemies,
but you should really look out for Dread Spiders, they will poison you with "lethal poison", which is very deadly.

There is a quest chain, that leads to the Solen Hive (Naturalist in Britain).

Britain Sewers
Very suitable for beginners. The monsters are easy to kill and drop about 25-50 gold pieces.

Sewer rats are aggressive, Bullfrogs don't attack on their own.

The Dungeon is located in West Britain, there are two entrances:

*The Lost Lands:en
:Cave entrance in the North-East corner of the "Hoppers Bog"
*Britain:en
:Entrance West Britain close to the big Mage shop (Stone building, a ladder leads down)
